Welcome to Stucky Middle School! We are excited to have you as part of our school community. Whether you are a student beginning a new year or a family supporting that journey, you are an important part of what makes Stucky a place where everyone can learn, grow, and belong. ParentVUE / StudentVUE
Every USD 259 student has a StudentVUE account where they can check their grades. Teachers are required to update grades every two weeks at a minimum starting the third week of a semester or quarter, depending on the length of the class. Parents can sign up for ParentVUE accounts during enrollment. If you need to sign up, contact Stucky's front office by calling 973-8402.
Parent Links
Parents receive automated phone calls from the school periodically, including notification of unexcused absences, building-wide announcements and event reminders, and emergency announcements. All parents must ensure that their contact information is up-to-date in the school's Student Information System to receive these calls. One can check the phone number and email address in the Student Information System by checking the demographic information using ParentVUE or calling the front office at 973-8402.
Student Contact Information / Pupil Information Form (PIF)
It is the parent's responsibility to inform the school when there is a change in address, phone number, place of employment, custodial rights and/or emergency contact information. If necessary, the person listed under emergency will be contacted if no one can contact the parent/guardian(s) listed. Emergency services will be immediately contacted if a child experiences a serious or life-threatening injury. The office will make every effort possible to contact the parents in the event of an emergency.
All USD 259 schools that DO NOT have standard dress (uniforms) have the same dress code. It can be found here.
It is the intention of the Stucky Middle School staff to assign relevant, challenging and meaningful homework tasks that reinforce classroom learning standards. The main purposes generally associated with homework are as follows:
- To prepare for, reinforce, and extend concepts introduced in class
- To allow students to experience success through independent practice
- To activate prior knowledge and assess student understanding
- To establish study habits and self-reliance
- To allow parents/guardians and teachers to monitor student progress
Student Behavior
Stucky staff expects students to behave appropriately and follow all school rules, as well as meet the behavior expectations of individual teachers and support staff. Stucky follows the Student Code of Conduct adopted by the WPS Board of Education. Click the button below to view it.
Stucky Expectations
- Students may enter the building at 7:30 am. Earlier entry will only be allowed if the student is involved in a school-sponsored and supervised activity.
- Students are to be out of the school building and off the grounds by 3:30 pm, unless a previous arrangement has been made between the parent and administrator, or the student is participating in an after-school, supervised activity.
- The following behaviors are not allowed on school grounds or inside the building:
- running, horseplay or similar behaviors
- sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, public displays of affection (holding hands, hugging, kissing) and/or any personal contact which displays lack of respect for the person touched, poor taste or unacceptable public behavior
- profanity
- fighting
- bullying
- theft and extortion
- weapons, real and play
- video/recordings of any kind, with the use of school issued devices or personal electronic devices, is prohibited without permission from administration
- obscene language, gestures or touch towards adults in the building
- vandalism or destruction of property
- sale of unauthorized items by students
- Students may eat and drink in the cafeteria only. Items students are eating or drinking in other areas may be confiscated.
- Refillable drink containers must be transparent. These containers are subject to content checks.
- Students are not allowed to enter areas designated for staff only, such as the office areas in each pod and the faculty lounge in the library.
- Students should not leave class while it is in session without both permission and a pass. The student should carry the pass at all times while out of the classroom. Any student in the hallway during class time should have a pass available to show staff memebers.
Behavior Incident Referrals
Level 2 and level 3 infractions of the district's Code of Conduct will result in an Incident Referral to the grade-level administrator. There will be a discussion of the incident and assignment of a consequence for the infraction. The administrator will also call and/or email home.
Private Dining (Lunch Detention)
It is the responsibility of the student to notify their parent/guardian when Private Dining has been assigned and/or served.
In-School Suspension (ISS)
Parents will be notified when students are assigned a full day or more of ISS. Students in ISS are expected to follow the rules posted in the ISS room. If a student cannot serve ISS successfully, it may result in additional days in ISS or suspension out of school.
Out-of-School Suspension (OSS)
Suspended students may not come back onto USD 259 property until the terms of the suspension are over. Students who are suspended from school are still responsible for the assignments and assessments they miss during their absence. Students should talk to their teachers about what they missed or parents can request work 24-hours in advance of the pick-up date.
Disciplinary Hearing
School administration has the right to pursue a disciplinary hearing if deemed necessary. Disciplinary Hearings may result in consequences up to and including expulsion from all Wichita Public Schools.

Cafeteria Information
Breakfast and lunch are offered to all students. Food and drinks provided by Nutrition Services are to be consumed in the cafeteria during the specified times.
Rules
1) Follow the Stucky guidelines for success: Respect everyone, Always do your best, Integrity at all times, Never give up!
2) Throw away your trash.
3) Food delivery, such as Door Dash, is not allowed.
Cost - Breakfast is free. Lunch costs $2.90, though reduced fees are available for those who qualify. Contact the front office for the appropriate form. 973-8402
A la carte is an additional daily cost. It can be paid with a lunch account or cash.
Students and parents will both receive notices when the balance in a student's lunch account is low. Parents must keep contact information in ParentVUE current to receive these notifications. Stucky will charge only three lunches, then students will receive cereal and milk until the account is paid.
Breakfast
Breakfast service begins at 7:40 am. Students will be able to eat breakfast before 1st period.
Extended breakfast is available for students whose bus arrives late. These students will eat in the cafeteria. They will then have 4 minutes to pass to their 1st period class after going to their lockers.
Lunch
Stucky Middle School is a closed lunch campus. This means that students are not allowed to leave the school grounds during their lunch period. Students must eat lunch at school in the cafeteria. During the passing period before students' lunch period, they pass to the class they will have after lunch and leave their laptops there to charge. 6th & 7th graders eat lunch 5th period, beginning at 11:14 and ending at 11:58. 6th graders eat lunch during the first half of the period while 7th graders go outside for recess. They switch halfway through the period. 8th graders eat lunch 6th period, beginning at 12:02 and ending at 12:46. Their group is split in half. One group begins outside with recess, while the other group eats in the cafeteria. They switch halfway through the period.
Parents who come to pick up their student during lunch must check into the front office to sign the student out. The student must return to the building during the 40 minute lunch period. Students are not allowed to go to lunch with high school students, even siblings.
Student Activities
School activities, such as the After School Program, dances and field trips, are for Stucky students only. Outside guests and the student(s) that bring them will be asked to leave. Students who are absent (unexcused) from school may not participate in the event. Additionally, any student suspended the day of or the day following the activity may not participate. A student must have attended at least a half-day of classes in order to participate in student activities after school
Athletic Teams Eligibility Requirements:
- Only 7th and 8th graders are able to join athletic teams at Stucky.

- Students must pass (earn at least a D) a minimum of five subjects the semester prior to the start of the season. Therefore, first semester eligibility is determined by final grades at the conclusion of the previous school year. Second semester eligibility is based on first semester final grades.
- Students with D's and/or F's may be kept from participating and, possibly, from trying out. It is up to the discretion of the coaches and/or administration.
- Studenst who have behavior violations leading to out-of-school suspension during the season will lose eligibility to participate.
First Semester Teams
Boys' and Girls' Cross-country: No tryouts, no cuts. Seventh graders run one mile and eighth graders run two miles. There are six meets each season which are held at local parks & high school tracks on weekdays.
Girls' Volleyball: Preceeded by conditioning & tryouts. The team plays approximately 10 matches each season, all on weekdays right after school.
Second Semester Teams
Boys' and Girls' Basketball: Preceeded by conditioning & tryouts. The team plays approximately 10 games each season, all on weekdays right after school. For half of the games, the girls' team plays first, then the boys' team plays first.
Boys' and Girls' Track: No tryouts. Everyone participates in first two meets. Then, cuts are made and again after the fourth meet. Those who qualify, participate in the All-City meet.
Passes
Restroom Passes: Students will receive a restroom pass Punch Card each month. Each card will have 8 opportunities for students to use the restroom during class time. It is highly recommended that students utilize the passing periods for restroom visits whenever possible. If a student runs out of passes before the end of the month, students will continue to be allowed to visit the restroom with a hand-written pass, but contact with caring adults will be initiated to discuss the amount of class time missed by restroom visits, as well as barriers, concerns and potential solutions that enable the student to use time wisely and meet their needs.
Hall Passes: All non-restroom passes will be written on a standardized slip. Students must have a slip with them both to and from their destination. The pass should be made available upon request by a staff member. Students who abuse hall pass privileges may be placed on a limited pass plan or required to pass with an adult chaperone.
Lost and Found
Lost and found clothing items are placed in a rolling cart in the southeast corner of the cafeteria. Lost books, glasses, electronic devices, etc. are stored in the front office. Likewise, personal items left in lockers after a student exits Stucky are lebeled and stored in the front office. At the end of every school year, items not claimed are donated to local charities. If your student is missing something, contact the front office (316-973-8402) or encourage your student to ask in the front office.
Lockers
Students' lockers are assigned by the school and are located close to their Advocacy (1st period) classes. Student combinations and locker numbers are printed on each student's class schedule. Students should NOT share their locker combinations with anyone! Lockers are the property of Wichita Public Schools. As such, lockers have a low expectation of privacy due to maintenance and safety concerns. Lockers may be searched by an administrator when there is reasonable suspicion that items dangerous to the well-being of the individual and/or student body may be located inside. Locker combination are changed each school year for students' protection. If a student forgets their locker number or combination, they can ask any teacher or in the front office. The school is not responsible for items stolen from lockers left open, from another student's locker or from a student's own locker after the student shared the combination with others.

Materials
Students' materials, such as binders, pencils, paper, dryerase markers, and more, will be provided in each classroom. Therefore, students will not carry materials or personal items in the hallways or from class to class. This includes student binders and textbooks. The only items students should be carrying from class to class are laptops and transparent water bottles.
Students are responsible for the books that are checked out to them. If books are damaged and require repair or replacement, or they are not turned in at the end of the school year, the student will be assessed the cost of the book for replacement or repair.
Library
Students can visit the library with the class or with an individual pass. Guidelines for success (Respect everyone, Always do your best, Integrity at all times and Never give up) must be followed in the library. Books and materials are provided by Wichita Public Schools for the benefit of all students. Therefore, lost or damaged items will result in the student being assessed the cost of replacement or repair.
Guests and Visitors
Parents and guardians are encouraged to visit! All guests must enter the building through the front office to check in and obtain a Visitor's Pass. Photo id is required to obtain a Visitor's Pass. All guests will be escorted by school staff to and from their destination. Former students will not be allowed to visit during the school day, unless the visit has been pre-arranged with a teacher. Please remember that teachers must not be interrupted when they are with a class.
Schedule Changes
Due to the complexity of the Master Class Schedule, schedule changes will typically not be made, unless administration deems a schedule change is necessary. Parents/Guardians will be contacted prior to any schedule change. Administration will give final approval.
- BOE Policy: The principal is authorized to carry out the procedure most suitable to the building for the protection of students and personnel in case of an impending story.
- If a tornado warning has been issued, students are to remain in the building unless picked up by a parent/guardian.
- Authority for early dismissal must come from the central office, due to bussing needs.
- Persons in the building should remain until an "all clear" signal is received, even beyond dismissal time.
Student Illness
If a student becomes ill or is injured at school, every effort will be made to contact one or both parents/legal guardians. Only after a parent/legal guardian is contacted will a student be sent home. If necessary, the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) will be immediately contacted if a child experiences serious or life-threatening injury. The office will make contact with the parents after the EMS have been called.
Medication at School
School nurses follow specific regulations in order to safely and legally administer medication at school. Medications (with proper paperwork) will be administered only as prescribed by a doctor. Students should stay home until they are temperature-free without medication for 24-hours.
If a student becomes ill at school, the student should tell their teacher and they will be given a pass to the Health Room. The Nurse will assess the situation, then allow the student to rest and return to class or phone the parent/legal guardian to arrange for transportation home. Any rashes or bites need to be reported to the nurse.
Read the guidelines below and keep them bookmarked or print them for future reference. Medications that do not meet these guidelines cannot be given to students. If you have any questions, contact the school nurse BEFORE sending the medication to school. Call the front office to initiate contact 316-973-8402.
- Non-Prescription (Over-the-Counter) Medication - This includes Tylenol, cold tablets, Ibuprofen (Motrin), cough syrup, etc. The parent's and physician's signature and the original bottle providing current and accurate information regarding dosage is required.
- Short-Term Prescription Medication - This includes medication that will be given for less than two weeks, such as antibiotics, cough medicine, etc. The parent's signature and bottle with a pharmacy label showing current and accurate information is requred. The physician's signature is optional.
- Long-Term Prescription - This includeds medication that will be given for more than two weeks, such as medication to treat ashma, seizures, ADHD, etc. The parent's signature, bottle with a pharmacy label showing current and accurate information, and the physician's signature are required.
- The Request-to-Administer-Medication-at-School forms are available in the school health room. Ask the pharmacist to put the medication in two bottles; one for school and one for home.
Field Trips
Field trips are planned to enhance learning. Student who go on field trips should remember that they represent not only themselves, but also the school and their grade-level team. Behavior that is unacceptable at school is also unacceptable on a field trip. In accordance with board policy, students may lose the opportunity to go on future field trips in they behave uacceptably during a field trip. An alternate classroom and daily assignments will be provided for students not participating in field trip activities.
Transportation
Most Stucky students ride a bus to school due to hazardous routes. Students will be assigned seats on the bus and will be expected to remain in that seat the entire time. All students are expected to follow regulations for bus riders. Students who choose to disregard any of those regulations will receive consequences from school administration, ranging from a verbal warning to suspension from transportation and/or school. Riding the bus is a service provided by the district and can be denied when chronic misbehavior occurs on the bus or at the bus stop.
Bus Rules and Regulations: Riding the bus is a privilege. Students not following the bus runes will receive a Bus Write-Up Slip from the driver. The Bus Supervisors will bring the student to an administrator to assign an appropriate consequence.
- Always comply with the driver's requests. The driver is in charge of the bus.
- Drivers will assign seats. Students are required to comply.
- Arrive on-time to your bus stop. The driver does NOT have to wait for students that arrive late.
- When waiting for the bus, stand back from the edge of the street/road. NEVER play in the street.
- Fighting, and even play fighting, are not allowed.
- No eating, pets, balloons or glass objects are allowed on the bus.
- Do not leave trash on the bus.
- Use a level 1-2 voice (whisper to normal conversational voice) on the bus. Do not shout.
- Students will not be allowed to get on or off the bus at an unauthorized stop.
- Keep hands, head, and arms in the bus at all times.
- Never throw objects while on the bus nor out the windows.
- When leaving the bus, cross far enough in front of the bus for the driver to see you pass safely.
- Any damage to the bus is to be reported at once to the driver.
- Profane language is not allowed.
- Smoking, vaping, lighters, and matches are forbidden on buses.
- Musical instruments that can be held on the lap or placed under the seat may be transported by bus.
- Weapons, real or pretend, are not allowed.
